3-DAY photo tour

If you have been to Chernobyl already, you certainly know, one day there is definitely not enough. For having unique pictures also two days are not enough. A three day photo tour is the most common way for photographers to cherish the Chernobyl exclusion zone and the famous Pripyat and all the other hidden places. It will give you enough comfort and time to evaluate every angle and light of a moment captured in time with your camera.

SCHEDULE

DAY 1


08:00 Departure – Kiev Central Railway station (meeting point: KFC restaurant)
10:00 Arrival at the Dityatky checkpoint (watching documentaries about Chernobyl accident on the way)
10:30 Entering the Chernobyl exclusion zone and excursion start
11:00 Check-in at the (newly built) hotel in Chernobyl (rooms of 2, 3 and 4 persons)
11:30 Chernobyl city: Memorial park, Firefighters monument, Open air military technique exposition, Church, Chernobyl docks
13:00 Lunch in Chernobyl – new canteen, traditional Ukrainian meals
14:00 Kopachi village – Kindergarten
14:30 Pripyat: Friendship of nations, Hospital, Port, Elementary school (collapsed in 2005 and 2013), cinema Prometeus
18:30 Dosimeter control
18:45 Shop stop
19:00 Dinner in Chernobyl – new canteen, traditional Ukrainian meals

DAY 3

09:00 Pripyat: Hotel Polissya, Central plaza, Grocery store, Furniture store
12:00 Power plant – Reactor number 4, new safe confinement construction site, monument photo shooting, feeding of extra large catfish
13:00 Parishev village – visiting local inhabitants, Firefighters station (still in use)
15:00 Lunch in Chernobyl – new canteen, traditional Ukrainian meals
16:00 Dosimeter control, leaving Chernobyl exclusion zone
18:00 Arrival to Kiev – Central railway station

Please note, the schedule is not binding and it is subject to change according to restrictions issued by the Chernobyl exclusion zone management.

SAFETY

Just a few hundred people every year are able to visit Chernobyl and Pripyat for more days and really cherish the atmosphere which cannot be described in words. The route of this photographic three- day tour is designed to avoid almost all of the places with a higher radiation level, or visit places with a higher radiation (still not harmful to one’s health) that is shrunk to a minimum. This tour is safe; the amount of radiation during the three days spent in the Chernobyl zone will not exceed 15 microsieverts – non harmful dose of radiation.
